Description – McCain Pub Style Crispy Onion Rings 500g

Frozen Onion Rings Featuring Real Onion in Crispy Golden Coating

McCain Pub Style Crispy Onion Rings are frozen ready-to-cook appetisers made from sliced onion coated in a seasoned batter and breadcrumb mix. The product is designed to replicate pub-style onion rings with a crispy outer layer and tender onion centre when cooked.

The core ingredient is onion (54%), providing natural sweetness and texture. The coating consists of wheat flour, maize flour, maize starch, modified starches (including wheat-derived 1412), and breadcrumb systems that ensure crisping during cooking.

Vegetable oils are used to support frying and texture development, while raising agents such as 450 and 500 contribute to lightness in the coating. Gelling agents (461, 401) help bind the coating system for consistent adhesion to onion slices.

Whey powder (milk-derived) is included to enhance browning and flavour, while paprika oleoresin provides colour for an appetising golden finish. Sugar, salt, and spice extracts balance flavour and enhance savoury depth.

From a nutritional perspective, the product is moderate in energy density with carbohydrates derived from flour coatings and natural onion sugars. Fat content is moderate depending on cooking method. Sodium levels reflect seasoning systems used for flavour enhancement.

Allergen information includes gluten, wheat, and milk, with potential soy exposure due to shared manufacturing facilities.
